Myers Creative Imaging / Partners + Napier Took Home Top Honors at the 2010 ADDY Awards

Rochester, N.Y., 03/12/2010

Myers Creative Imaging / Partners + Napier received top honors tonight; live from the 19th annual ADDY® Awards ceremony. RAF, the connection for Rochester's advertising community, presented the evening's most distinguished award—Best of Show—to Myers Creative Imaging/Partners + Napier for its Boy Scouts of America 2008 Annual Report, created for the Otetiana Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Jay Advertising was also a big winner at the event.

In addition to the Best of Show win, Partners + Napier took home a total of five ADDYs, including special recognition in design and print copy, and eight LADDYs (Citations of Excellence). Myers Creative Imaging (formerly John Myers Photography) took home a total of three ADDYs and three LADDYs.

Tonight, RAF remembered Jeffrey Goff, Jay Advertising's broadcast guru, with the Silver Award, which was established by the American Advertising Federation in 1959 to recognize a local professional who has made outstanding contributions to the advertising field. Goff passed away last year, and as a Silver Award recipient, will be remembered among Rochester's advertising elite. Past Silver Award winners include Bill Buckett, Bob Conge, Jerry Flynn, Jim Gallery, Jack Kraushaar, Sharon Napier, Chris Pulleyn, Walt Roberts, Ferdinand Smith, and Bob Young.

Before planting his roots at Jay Advertising in Rochester, Goff spent 20 years directing the broadcast coverage at Wimbledon for Home Box Office (HBO), racking up expertise in sports entertainment. He was nominated for a National Emmy Award for his direction of the boxing venue at the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, and won an Emmy as director of the boxing coverage for the 1988 Summer Olympic Games on NBC. Goff came to Jay Advertising 24 years ago, first as a client from HBO before transitioning into a permanent team member of the agency.

"Jeff's high degree of professionalism and artistry helped elevate advertising production values in Rochester, ever challenging the status quo and leaving a legacy that continues to elevate the quality of work we see today throughout our community," said Earl Repp, Jay Advertising.

Additionally, Jay Advertising was honored with the RAF Best of Broadcast Award for its "Lead: Know the Warning Signs" public service TV spot that was created for the Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo. In addition, the agency's RPO Brand Posters, created for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, were honored with a judges' special recognition in concept and illustration. Jay Advertising took home a total of nine awards, including three ADDYs and six LADDYs.

In addition to Jay Advertising and Partners + Napier, five other winners were honored with a judges special recognition in seven categories: Gold Dog Communications, direct mail; Clark CSM, collateral copy; Myers Creative Imaging, Photography; Wegmans, long form copy; and Kate Sonnick Creative, broadcast copy.

In true sideshow fashion, the 2010 ADDYs were anything but ordinary. With just over 300 total entries, 35 won LADDYs and 20 were awarded the ADDY. Plus, the ADDYs attracted submissions beyond its traditional agency entrants, including in-house creative departments and not-for-profit organizations. RAF also awarded $2000 in scholarships to nine student winners, all from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

"In spirit of our 'Ad Freak' theme, tonight's event was wonderfully weird and extraordinary—a perfect description of the Rochester advertising community," added Mayernik. "For the first time ever, a radio commercial was considered for Best of Broadcast—and for the second straight year, a PSA took home the honor. Our judges in Chicago were so impressed with our entries that they handed out eight special recognitions—another first!"

The RAF hosted the ADDY Award ceremony tonight at the Radisson Hotel. Nearly 500 members of Rochester's fabulous advertising community were in attendance at the 19th annual ADDY Awards. The 2010 ADDY Awards were presented by RAF and sponsored by Xerox. Martino Flynn developed the theme and creative materials for the awards show this year.
